Dr. Jooho Whang is the President & CEO of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (KHNP), brining decades of experience in nuclear technology, research and leadership.

He chaired the Advisory Board on Nuclear Power Plant Export (2020-2022), playing a key role in shaping Korea's nuclear export strategy. Earlier in his career, Dr. Whang was also the President of the Korea Institute of Energy Research (2010-2013), Chairman of Government-led Technical Expert Committee in the National Science and Technology Council (2008-2013), and a member of the National Energy Committee (2006-2011). He has been actively involved in nuclear technology research and policy development since 1999, starting his career as a technical expert at the Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning.

His academic tenure includes nearly 30 years at Kyung Hee University, where he served as Dean of the College of Engineering (2013) and Provost of Global Campus (2015). He began his career in 1986 as a researcher in spent fuel management at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. He also led professional societies, serving as the President of the Korean Energy Society (2013) and the Korean Nuclear Society (2016).  

Dr. Whang earned a B.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering (1982) from Seoul National University , an M.S. degree in Medical Physics (1984) and a Ph. D in Nuclear Engineering (1986) from Georgia Institute of Technology.
