Dr. Nanda Kumar Janardhanan is the Deputy Director- Climate and Energy and South Asia Regional Coordinator at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), Japan. His research interest includes climate security, energy policy, technology co-innovation, critical minerals, hydrogen and air pollution. Dr Janardhanan has over two decades of experience in policy research, market research and academia. He taught at several noted academic institutions including the Kyoto University (Japan), Federal University of Bahia (Brazil) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (India). He also worked with premier think tanks in India and Japan - the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA, India) and Japan Institute for International Affairs (JIIA, Japan)-, and held Fellow position with Climate CoLab of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Dr Janardhanan currently holds Adjunct Fellow positions with the Institute of Chinese Studies (India) and Institute of Australia India Engagement (Australia). He is currently a Salzburg Global Fellow.
