Tomomi Yamada is President of Overseas Business Division II since 2024. He oversees oil and gas producing assets in Iraq, Indonesia, Russia, UK and Norway and leads E&P and Carbon Neutral (CN) business development in the same areas. He has nearly 40 years of work experiences on and around oil and gas E&P, which includes initiating Japex’s overseas CN business development (2020-), technical vice-presidency in steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) project of Canadian oil sand (2017-2020), general management of a producing asset in Iraq (2013-2017), taking a command of Japex's reservoir-engineering team over a number of reservoir characterization and IOR projects (2002-2013) and supervision of production operations on an oil field in Oman (2000-2002).
He previously served as an Associate Editor of SPE Reservoir Engineering & Formation Evaluation (2011-2015) and a Board Member of Reservoir Engineering Research Institute, California (2010-2013), and chaired technical sessions at a number of international conferences including those of SPE and WPC.
He is a recipient of 1992-1993 Rotary International Scholarship and 2009 SPE Distinguished Technical-Editor Award and holds B.E. from University of Tokyo and M.S. and Ph.D. from Stanford University, all in petroleum engineering.
