Hiroshi Hashimoto has been a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ) in Tokyo since July 2023. His focus areas include the global LNG and gas markets and methane emission management in the LNG value chain. He writes monthly "LNG Review" series and other LNG-related papers through the IEEJ website. He was Head of Gas Group between July 2019 and March 2023 after joining the institute in April 2010. Previously Hiroshi worked on LNG, natural gas, and energy issues for four years from 2006 at the International Energy Agency (IEA). Prior to those, Hiroshi worked for Tokyo Gas for 20 years, assuming positions in LNG procurement (strategy, project development, and contracting), business development (infrastructure development), the New York Representative Office (liaison and research), and the Sodegaura LNG receiving terminal (LNG receiving, storing and sending-out operation management). He has also been engaged in IGU activities for almost twenty years, participating in the Strategy Committee, occasionally contributing to activities of other committees, notably the LNG Committee, and the wholesale price study. He has spoken at the past IGU events, including the LNG conferences, IGRCs, and the World Gas Conferences, as well as other international gas industry events.
