Luis F. Gonzalez focuses on Data Science/ AI solution research and Development for the power industry and is a key enabler and thought leader of the transformation of the power business. In his dual role at Aboitiz Data Innovation (ADI) and Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower) he drives the program for the deployment of AI solutions in the Generation, Distribution and Energy trading business while assuring the incubation of future Industrial AI applications for the Digital start up and AI CoE within the Aboitiz Power Group.
Luis has 25 years of experience in leading and developing AI solutions, enterprise software, and digital transformation in the power industry. He has been involved with over 50 customers in Asia Pacific, North & South America, Europe, and the Middle East.
He is a Co-founder of the AI Asia Pacific Institute, a not-for-profit research institute for the ethical deployment of learning algorithms in society. He is also a guest lecturer at Nanyang Technological University MBA Program and Faculty under the North Western-Kellogg and Harvard Data Science Programs at Emeritus Learning Platform, and and sits in the board of the Computer Science School at La Salle university, as well as other 3 deep tech stealth startups in Singapore.
Prior to joining the Group, Luis was the Managing Director of Element AI Asia (A Canadian Deep Learning startup co-founded by Turing Award recipient Yoshua Bengio). He was also a Chief AI Officer for Aaqua (social media economic communities startup), Vice President & Chief Customer Success at GE Digital (responsible for the delivery of all GE PREDIX Projects in Asia). And the GE Power Chief Digital Officer, responsible for power digital PNL in Asia.
Luis holds a Double Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Computer Science from the University of Victoria & Chinese University of Hong Kong. He also earned postgraduate diplomas in Machine & Deep Learning, Data Science, IoT, and Smart Manufacturing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a specialization in Designing AI Applications from MIT xPRO lab. Finally, he has been focusing on Small Modular Nuclear Technology and the overlap with AI systems as well as future business models for Learning Algorithms.
