Stian Sollied has served as DNV’s Country Manager in Japan since 2018, overseeing and expanding the company’s maritime operations from his base in Kobe. He joined DNV in 2001 as a design approval engineer and went on to lead the Safety and Systems section at DNV’s Approval Centre in Shanghai from 2007 to 2014. During this period, he also represented DNV on the Bulk Carrier Committee of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). From 2014 to 2017, Sollied worked at DNV’s head office as a Business Development Manager, focusing on future regulatory developments and the impact of the energy transition on the maritime industry. He holds an MSc in Naval Architecture from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and also serves as the Norwegian Honorary General Consul in Kobe.
